Vacuum Hand PumpThe vacuum hand pump is used to remove air form the tensiometer water reservoir during preparation and routine maintenance. It can also be used to calibrate the dial gauge on the tensiometer, and to periodically check the operation of the tensiometer gauges in the field. The hand pump is made of cast aluminum and is intended for rugged field use. A dial gauge provides a readout of the vacuum, or negative pressure, developed. The pump is capable of developing a negative pressure of approximately -90 kPa (-90 centibars or -13 psi). The hand pump comes complete with a 60cm (2ft) length of clear flexible tubing and attachments for connection to a tensiometer.
